Markdown to PDF, typeset in your browser

Real text, not a screenshot

Most in-browser Markdown-to-PDF tools render your document to HTML, photograph it with a canvas, and paste the picture into a PDF. The result looks right and is useless: you cannot select a word, copy a paragraph, search the file, or read it with a screen reader, and it weighs several times more. This typesets the document instead — every character is real text with an embedded font, so the PDF behaves like a PDF.

What carries over

Headings one through six, bold, italic and both together, strikethrough, inline code and fenced code blocks, ordered and bulleted lists including nested ones, task list checkboxes, tables with their column alignment and a header row that repeats across pages, blockquotes, horizontal rules, and links that stay clickable in the finished PDF.

What doesn't

Images are replaced with a text placeholder rather than embedded, because fetching an image would mean sending a request to another server — and nothing here touches the network. Raw HTML written inside your Markdown is skipped, since a PDF has no equivalent for it. Both are counted and reported after every conversion, never dropped silently.

Your text never leaves your device

The whole conversion — reading the Markdown, laying out the pages, writing the PDF — happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, no image address in your Markdown is ever requested, and the font is embedded from the page itself rather than fetched from a font service.

Questions about Markdown to PDF

Is the text in the PDF selectable?
Yes. The PDF contains real text with an embedded font, so you can select it, copy it, search it and read it with a screen reader. It is not an image of your document.
Will my accented characters render?
Yes. The embedded font covers the full Latin-Extended range, including Czech, Polish and Romanian diacritics such as ě, š, č, ł, ż, ą, ș and ț.
Do page breaks work?
Yes. Pages are broken automatically as the document is laid out, and a table's header row repeats at the top of each page it continues onto.
Is there a size limit?
250,000 characters. Laying out a PDF means measuring every line against the font, which costs more per character than a plain text conversion — the limit keeps the browser responsive.
Is my document uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser. You can disconnect from the internet and the tool still works.
